I knew Mark from when Windsurfing first began. He had a true passion for Board Sports both on and off the water. He pushed the envelope on Windsurfing when He built "Island Tramp". A short board built of wood and epoxy. He brought the sport of Windsurfing to the ice on Lake St.Clair when He developed a ski that would accept a sail rig, extending the stand up season for all of us.I will always remember a particular morning with Mark off Belle Isle near the Coast Guard Station. Mark was riding Island Tramp and I was on my stock Windsurfer. A friend of Mark's that was stationed there in the Guard brought out the patrol boat and proceed to do donuts for us in the river that produced some monster waves that had us smiling from ear to ear.The fisherman along the shore however were not quite as elated as the waves tubed into shore pounding folding chairs and tackle boxes.I will miss you Brother...You where Detroit Air Force to the bone ! RIP...I A.
