Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan
Since 1997 the Lexington WeatherTalker has been supplying current weather conditions for interested sailors.
Back then, I spearheaded a campaign to get approval from the DNR at the Harbor for installation of a WeatherTalker. Telling them why they needed a Weathertalker. They gracious approved and provided space for it but wanted nothing to do with paying for it. Once they approved it, I gathered enough donated money from interested sailors to purchase and installed a Davis Instruments WeatherTalker unit.
.
It proved very valuable through out the years – one phone call and you get real time weather conditions up to the second. To this day there still isn’t a better way to get real time data right from the launch site.
Through out the years sponsors and individuals have donated money to keep it going.
The last 4 years not enough money has been generated from sponsorship and the normal hard-core group that consistently donated.
So this year I am looking for someone to take over the billing department either through a sponsorship or an individual that can generate enough donated money to keep it going.
Activating the phone service and monthly phone bills amount to $290.00 for the season mid-May through October. The entire infrastructure is on site and ready to activate.
Bottom line is I need $290.00 before the Lexington WeatherTalker can be activated.
I know of many sailors that want to keep this valuable tool up and running. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate and take over.
Any one interested or have questions please email me at tjanicki@hotmail.com
