<p>I have one of the Competition SST mast bases (and board), but have also retrofitted with the big brass nut as suggested below. This has worked beautifully for 5+ years and allowed me to switch to a "modern" mast base which has a 6:1 purchase....made it possible to more easily rig a modern sail for this old board. </p>

<p>I have found with referral a big brass plate....it can be used in lieu of a "stock" mast foot...you can put this below the mast track "pin" and use it for mounting a standard chinook style mast base. It works on my mistral malibu and competition sst. </p>

<p>Being an x-sailboard dealer (back in the 80's and 90's)I can see it working on several other brands (like F2, Tiga...) but only having a mistral here I can only say it works just fine, you just wont be able to adjust your mast…</p>

<p>Yes, for the competition sst. the Malibu is basically a pin that you lock in place with a black plastic tab on it to slide the pin aIn and out. Tonight I will take a picture of it and post it.</p>
