Sailboarder rescued from lake

|
A person fell off a sailboard in Lake Michigan on the North Side this evening and had to be rescued, but he was not injured, authorities said.

Personnel from the Police Marine Unit and the Chicago Fire Department responded about 6 p.m. to a report of a person out in the lake off the North Side beaches, according to a Marine Unit sergeant.

The man apparently fell of his sailboard and couldn't get back on, so the Fire Department put divers into the water to rescue him.

The victim, whose age and identification were not available, did not have to go to a hospital, according to a Fire Department spokesman.

Hmmm, they said that the guy "couldn't get on". I'm guessing he was cold and exhausted and couldn't sail back.
