Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

Good forecast for Rondeau Bay off Lake Erie just south of Chatham today. However thunderstorms are supposed to develop later on this afternoon. On this forecast the wind looks best after two pm however I will be leaving early and hope to be there around ten am. ( geting desperate for any wind now)

Rondeau is about an hour away from Windsor. Straight East on Highway 401 to exit 101. then south on Dresden road 15 to the third stop sign and a quick right turn almost at the lake and straight into the park entrance. my cell # is 519-257-5035, call me if you decide to come this moirning and bring your roller blades if you have some, you will see why when you get there.

Park entry fee is about CAN$ 13.00  and believe me, we think this is way too steep however once inside you may think it worth it.

Come inside the gate and go straight to the park store turn right and park at the dock. Grassy rigging area and washrooms and always other windsurfers and kiters

OOps sorry it's straight East on 401 and south on Dresden Road 15 exit 101. it was early when I started typing this
Well as promised the day went resonably well. got there around 10 am blowing around 12 or 13 mph, rig up 7.5 and my blast `120 had to buy park pass Can$ 100.00 and in July our wonderfull provincial government is adding an additional 12% ?? HST blended tax so after July 1st I assume the same pass will be CAN$ 112.00 for the season. We should have kept our right to bare arms!! can we borrow Thadeous Mcotter to run for the position of our Prime Minister, we could really use someone with some common sense. Anyway the single entry fee is CAN$15.00 this year ( that's crazy). Hopefully we can come across and sail with you guys somewhat. Around 11 am I ventured out to sail fairly powered up for a few runs with slightly ever increasing wind until around 2pm at which time it backed off and almost died altogether. thinking that was the end I packed it in and as I was geting set to leave it began blowing harder and harder as I was leaving it was blowing a steady 25 knots, but I could here thunder in the background although it sounded quite far off. Lightning and thunder make me very nervous when I am on the water. some guys were just rigging and geting ready to go out but I am not sure what happened as it would have been to painful to watch guys flying on 5.0's at that point.
Saturday June 12. We awoke to sunny skies and Southwesterly air flow. I windsurf was experiencing some technical difficulties, and so we could not get the Saturday forecast (or anywhee else for that matter). By 10 am things seemed to be stacking up right. SW air flow sunny skies and a threat of thunderstorms approaching from the SouthWest about 5 to 7 hours away. Perfect for the wind machine at Rondeau Bay. We got there around 11 am Ann rigged a 6.6 and I my trusty Retro 7.5 Out we went plainned up for about a good hour and a half followed by a swich down to her 6.6 by me and she to 6.0. Aquick bite to eat and then back out for another hour and a half session. Called it quits at 5 pm good day all in all, maybe not stellar but good enough to appease my appetite for a while
