Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

Surprise Session today on St. Clair today!  Big forecast for today all last week, as we awoke in the morning to find to our disappointment it had been downgraded once again for the afternoon. So we decided to head out and restock some grocery shelves but upon our return home lo and behold the trees were beginning to talk. Ok quick ride down to the beach and yes it is promising so home load up and back to Beachgrove. Wests here are gusty at best so I ventured out first with 100 liters and 6.0 while Ann held back to see the verdict. Three runs and way more power than I need so re-rig to 5.5 and Ann on 5.0.

Meanwhile Brooke has shown up, and Dan soon afterword followed by Richard. We all sailed gusty conditions for the next three hours and after some great powered up runs and jumps in and de-rig and home to hot tub and Margarita's  Not bad for such a lousy forecast!!

Great pics Don!

Hoping for a replay again tonight!! Only straight on North, so, not near as gusty!!

Don,
Same on this side of the Lake Sunday afterrnoon. 10 plus windsurfers at Blue Lagoon
rigging from 4.5 to 5.5s in gusty conditions.
That's 2 in a row 5.5 or smaller, and maybe something might happen tonight and with the full moon it might be a late night session.

Ok! So around 6:30 I am getting doubtfull and we decide allright lets at least do a bike ride and get some exercise. Stop by Brooks place by the lake around 10 to 7 and it's still looking pretty lame. Ride back south away from the lake on our trail and return about 20 minutes later,,,White caps!!! Ok quick ride home, stuff is already packed so just jump into our wetsuits and drive to BeachGrove. I sailed 6.5 Ann on 6.0 Brooke on 6.5 and Dan on 6.5. Ok session but still felt a bit underpowered but at least it was steady.
The pinacle was the Southport guys were just comming in on their sailbooats to come home to roost, and all of us were cutting across their homeward path hooting, hollering and jumping as we cut across their sterns,  makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside and proud to be a windsurfer!!!

We got lucky here last Saturday 6/9  SW forecast totally bust in the morning but the temps were forecast to be in the 90's so we decided to go Rondeau for the day anyway just to get away from the heat. we arrived there around 11 to a light breeze and decided to go rollerblading for an hour around the park. By the time we got back to the launch area the wind had began to pick up. We sailed from about 12:30 till about 4pm. bigger stuff, 7.5,6.5, but still planning and out of the heat of the city, We left around 4:30 as we had company comming over and had to be home but the wind was still increasing when we left.

Sunday we totally blew it! Got up, and yes another 90+ day so out for a nice 2 hour bike ride in the morning before it got really hot, then back home and take turns sitting out in the heat and then in, in the air conditioning, Finally around 3pm  I get on my computer to find an e-mail which I had missed earlier,,  Pelee Wings had an all day10am to 4pm demo day on SUP's. Had I seen that e-mail Sunday would have been a much more productive day, oh well next time I guess.

Seems to have been blowing here late in the day every day, but unfortuntely all due South's and totally off shore/ I was wondering if any of that made it to your side or if it was all just thermal induced wind from the heat of the city. Thought we could see one guy out Sunday night near the Patterson Park area around 7 pm
