Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

8 am I am at home beginning to roll some paint on our spare bedroom wall, when ring, the phone, Hmm probably telemarket as I am up to my elbows on a chair cutting in a ceiling paint joint. It's our newbie, RJ wondering if I was going out today the forecast is looking pretty promising.

A quick computer check and yeah it is looking promising for South -Westerly at Rondeau beginning around 10 or 11, so I drop the paint brush, quickly bag everthing in plastic bags tightly so the air won't get in (much), and out to the garage to a quick pack job and run over to pick up RJ.

As we arrive the whitecaps are looking pretty good, but the wind is West, and that usually means gusty here, so I rig my Hucker 6.6 and off I go. We are in the water around 10 or 10:30 and sailed till about 1 very powered up most of the time but witn some lulls. At about 1 the wind changes direction and begins to pump in from the SW??? Ok that's a good thing, SW is the best direction for the bay anyway, much steadier. Of course  it continues to ramp up for the next 2 hours at least, and the Hucker is behaving itself quite well despite being really overpowered, but knowing that we are going to leave soon (RJ had to be home around 5) I hang onto it anyway, and around 2 I finally go down to my smaller 85 litre carve, and sail for an additional hour.

Ok the hour ride home, drop off RJ, and back home to cook a quick supper.  Ann arrives home from work around 5 we have a quick meal of Rainbow trout, Sweet potato fries and salad, and back out to the van to repack for another session on St. Clair this time.

We get there just before 6. I rigged a 6.0 and Ann a 5.5, pretty much sailed right till dark. At points we had to take a break and rest as even with the 5.5 (which I had switched with her for a bit) we were still overpowerd at times, hence the crow's feet around our eyes today. Back home to the hot tub and a few beers and then oblivion. Today is paint day! But first let me check that forecast.
