Tom,

If they are greenish, then they are probably G-10 material.

Some people sand them and some people just ignore the minor stuff.

I fill chips and dings with epoxy and wet sand back to the original profile. Minor scratches at the tip of the fin I usually don't bother with unless I'm jonesing during the off-season.

I picked up a couple of used fins. A Tues Ames 16.5” Sweeper (Glass), and a Fin Works 12.5” weed fin (Composite). Both are in good condition but have some minor scratches and nicks at the bottom (probably from running-a-ground in shallow water) and on the trailing edge. Do you guys smooth out these imperfections?

Thanks Dave. I have the 'blade weed' and the 'surf grass'. The blade weed sheds weeds better, but I like the surf grass better on my small, higher wind boards.

Agree with Randy & Brian on True Ames. Their site's a bit funky to find all the weed fins they offer, but I found this windsurf collection link: https://www.trueames.com/collections/windsurf

True Ames are good. Just make sure you get one with the fin offset forward of the box.
