Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan
St Joe has beautiful sand beaches on both sides of the breakwater. The shoreline is angled SSW to NNE. This makes for great wavesailing when those fall system winds clock. While it's still blowing from the NW, it's better at South Haven, Saugatuck or Holland, but when it shifts to straight North or NE, St. Joe has the big waves and excellent sideshore wind.
(of course, you always want to sail on the lee side of the breakwater)

St Joe is right between Michigan City and South Haven, so looking at these sites will give you a good indication of what's happening
