Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

Hey everyone!

I recently got a new sail at the Cass Lake swap in the beginning of May. The boom that I had would fit, but it's really old and doesn't have a clamp. I was wondering if anyone may have a boom lying around I could get for cheap. I'm a beginner so as long as it works it's good enough for me (I'm not particular about what it's made of, etc.).

Thanks!!

Elise

P. S. If anyone knows of someone who teaches windsurfing lessons I would be very interested! I know there's a lot I need to learn! Thanks!

Hi Elsie. Where in Mi are you located and are you able to travel?

I am in Royal Oak and I am definitely able to travel as long as it's a reasonable distance! :)

Elise

What size sail do you have now and are you thinking of getting any others. I assume yo have had basic on land training?? Are you able to windsurf at any level?  I can travel to say Cass Lake which would be a fair venue for a beginner. Our Mitchell's Bay is excelllent as on SouthWesterlies (predominant wind direction in the summer here) you do not have to be over your head!!  Let me know where your level is and we may be able to help. Also we would lkely have a boom you can have, I only kjeep them for so many sessions!

Hi Elsie,

I think you purchased your 430 mast from me.
I live ~15min from Cass. My wife and I would be
glad to meet you at Cass on Sunday afternoon for
an hour or two. The forecast is for a very light breeze
which would be fine if you're really just starting...

Also, Scott Haas gives lessons out of Toledo:

If you're looking for a more formal lesson.

If Don has a boom for you, you should take him up on it!

Thank you both SO much for your responses! I took a lesson in Florida and I'm able to go back and forth but that's about it! I think mainly I need PRACTICE :) Of course! Unfortunately I have to work Sunday :( otherwise I would definitely be out at Cass Lake. I've grown up boating and Cass Lake is where we always go. I got some practice in at the end of summer last year at Port Austin, but this summer will be my first true experience. I did buy the 430 from you Scott! I now have a Starboard Start board and a Multi-Sail (4.8 without the panel or 5.4 with the panel zipped on).

Again thanks so much for your help!
