Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

The Good Old SW Michigan Windsurfing Crew

WOW. BLAST FROM THE PAST !!!

The old windsurfing crew. What a great time we had!

Kiteboarding was JUST getting going. Tom James from Windsurfing Mag came by in the fall with photog Eric Sanford and did a shoot here that made it in the magazine fall 2000. It was then that Tom showed me his FIRST issue of Kiteboarding magazine. What a trip!

Found this on the backup drive. Circa 1996 ?

Michigan Footage and then Gorge Footage. 1 week into the Gorge trip I broke my foot from bad landing and twisting in footstrap and had to sit and watch so I decided to film and I came up with this.

Eric,

Just spent the last week on 4.5's in Maui.  I had dinner with Mark and his dad while there.  Mark is one of the top 4-5 racers in the Maui Summer Race Series, which includes a number of PWA sailors!  He teaches for HST Maui in order to support his habit!

Thanks Mark,

Yep still windsurfing when I can. I've got out on some good inland 4.7 sessions. The big lake hasn't been really windy enough to ride yet, great for kiting no so hot for real sailing IMO. Heading to the Gorge in Aug for some real hi-wind action. Looking forward to seeing my firends and getting some sessions at The Wall, Hatchery, Cheap Beach, Dougs Beach, Roosevelt......the good stuff.

CAN'T WAIT to sail a 3.7 and a 4.2 again on a little 70 ltr board......Can't wait.

Thanks eveyone...found this old stuff in an old hard drive.

I think there is even more footage to sift thru...there may be some gems. It's crazy how things have changed so much now a days.

Brian: The backloop attempt was made by Greg Kirby....we were all trying to crank them out, but only he got caught on film trying to make it happen.

Great Video Eric.  Who was it that almost pulled off that back loop at 0:47?
