Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan
June 12 2012. We sailed a new spot last night on St. Clair, halfway between Lesperance Rd and Manning. Nice grassy rigging area, nice sandy launch, not far from home, mohito's and hot tub, and most of all free!!! Wind started building from the North west around 4pm but looked pretty gusty at that point so no hurry, but load the truck cook supper and by then Ann was home so we ate and drove to the new spot. RJ and Will were already there and rigged, We started unloading and just behind us Brooke showed up. Brooke rigged 6.5, I rigged 6.5 and Ann 6.0. we ventured out in some really off, on conditions at first. Some really big gusts but some really big lulls as well. After half an hour it lulled out completely but I could see the wind on the water coming back in from the due North very strong, so I just waited patiently parking my board into the wind. as soon as it hit it was game on!! We sailed very well powered up for the next two hours and finally got blown off the water around 9pm. I can't say how much I Iove this time of year as it is light out till almost 10pm,, how awesome!!!! And a great windsurfing session to boot!!
Added some pictures of us wrapping it up at the end!
Nobody gets more time on the water than Don Ferguson!
Looks like a great launch Don.
Exactly same thing on this side of the pond, erratic W-NW winds and then bang the wind god hit the switch NE came up and Hatteras steady from 6 until 8. Although no one got blown off the water we had a lull around 8:00 and everyone came in. I had to run so not sure if the rest of the crew carried on without me but I do know they carried on with happy hour without me.
