Yes, it was a GoPro Hero HD mounted to the boom.  Just remember to get the moisture strips for the camera or the lens fogs up within 20 - 40 minutes.  I lost some good video from foggy lens.  The handle bar mounts were used with the GoPro camera.  GoPro camera was mounted upside down on the boom and a menu select within the GoPro camera  was used to flip the video. The 960p (1280 x 960 4:3) setting was used which gives you more video in the vertical direction (up/down).  You can use the 1080p setting (wide screen 16:9) but it will cut the top and bottom of the video but you will get more video on the left and right side.  I would recommend the GoPro Hero 960 HD (max. setting is 960p) which is approximately $100 less.  I have not yet had a reason to use the 1080p.  The camera does not float.

 

GoPro camera was good for 2 hours and 40 minutes on a new battery. 16 GB SDHC class 4 ex. (Kingston) memory card works since 2 hours and 40 min. is around 12-14 GB. With and extra battery and memory card, you can recorded most of your sailing session:)  I changed the memory and battery out at the same time.  One Con: I am required to charge the batteries in the camera with USB.  I don't believe there is no AC charger for the  batteries.  There are AC chargers with USB ports but you still need to use the camera to charge the battery.

Cool video.  I liked the side-by-side framing.  Seeing liquid phase water helps this time of year.
