Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan

Hello All

After yesterdays Rondeau Bay disaster of "no wind" today finally
made up for it.a little gun shy because of the cold I looked at the buoy report on St.
Clair as of noon it was North 22 and air temp of 50Deg F,, Thinking I might try a new venue today as Brooke and I have been eyeing up a spot not far from home at the foot of Lesperance and Riverside Drive, I thought I might give it a try. I put my suit on at home used some very thin sport socks under my booties this time and open palm mitts, partially rigged my board and brought out only a 6.5 and a 5.5.
Once there I quickly rigged the 6.5 and out in the water, I powered up immediatly on a 100 liter board. Great powered up riding for about 2 hours by then the cold began to get the better of me. I found the rocks by the Rondezvous area were not of concern, the wind was straight on shore so I pinched out a bit say 50 yards out from the Rondezvous point and encountered nothing but sandy bottom, no breakwall in the bay east of the point as well so the waves set up in long rows toward shore about 15 to 20 feet apart making for easy jibes there. The other side was a bit more challenging as once past Lacasse St.
and to the east the breakwalls make for much confused chop with waves that can amp up suddenly and knock the wind out of you if you are not paying full attention. Still once I sailed out far enough the vodoo chop seamed to ease up a lot and in the end I had some decent jibes on that side as well. All in all not a bad way to end the season if that's all she wrote.   Don
Oh yeah and our house and hot tub, and cold beer is less than 2 min away,
bonus!! Only thing is that there  is barely parking for three cars there.

Brooke called around 4:30 wanted to know if it was still windy, i said yeah meet you at Lesperance around 5. We both went back out with 6.5 again a little on the light end at first but we were
overpowerd by the time we got off just before 7.
ps I used my old Bare drysuit as I could not bring myself to crawl back in my O'neal.
Wow those old suits were horrid, no flex at all and i could hardly breathe, don't know how those guys used those things in the gorge back in the late 80's and early 90's. Also it is bright yellow and black I looked like a big swollen wasp (yellow jacket).  Don
