In Michigan I am focused on sailing Lake Michigan. But since I live in Oregon, I do most of my sailing in the Columbia River Gorge. I haven’t had great luck getting wind to cooperate on my Michigan visits. I did have one fantastic day of sailing last summer on the big Lake. I launched from the beach in Glenn. I am also looking forward to trying out sailing near the breakwaters in S. Haven, Holland, Muskegon.
Thanks for reaching out!
I’m from Virginia originally, so I’d usually sail in Hatteras...Seattends and Windwings.
I moved to Maui in Jan 07, 12 years ago as a windsurfer and surfer. After six months I converted to kite surfing and Sup surfing.
I have not windsurfed since...but want to get a long board...big 220 liters or better...
I want to cruise on the lakes here by Saugatuck as well as out in Lake Michigan.
On a longboard I’d kite both Lake Michigan and inland lakes. I also intend to kite if wind permits.
Where do you kite here?
I’ve never done the Gorge..yet.
My email is tadmaui56@gmail.com
Not sure how to do a PM here.
Thank you!
Tad
Welcome! I’m nearby in Glenn, about 10 miles south. I live in Oregon for now, but I am originally from Michigan. We come back to visit Glenn every summer, and I have a full set of windsurfing gear stashed there. Let’s get in touch. I’ll be there July next summer. If it’s windy we should go sailing. How long have you been windsurfing? Are you comfortable sailing on Lake Michigan, or do you prefer inland lakes?
We have a growing group of windsurfers on the west side of the state. If you send me your email address in a PM I will add you to the distribution list.
