Looking for 140 liter-ish board

My go-to North Shore Maui Race L is hanging in the garage slowly dripping water.  I have easily done 75% of my riding on it since 2000, she has been repaired too many times to count, and this last…Continue

Built this in 2001 and have only had it out once on a very light air day. For whatever reason I have not put together the right combination of gumption and helmet to look like the videos:…Continue

My go-to North Shore Maui Race L is hanging in the garage slowly dripping water.  I have easily done 75% of my riding on it since 2000, she has been repaired too many times to count, and this last one may be the killer...sigh...Looking for a replacement.  A few nicks and dings are fine.  This board has been great because it is wide (around 72 cm) but not crazy wide, light, and a bit longer than is currently fashionable for its volume which works because I am tall and heavy and use it for…See More

dave simon replied to Don Ferguson's discussion I've got a quick question for the windsurfing techies out there!
"Hi Don, Some thoughts around notions of stability, force input, and damping: Everything in design is a tradeoff.  In the olden days, on those small boards, the name of the game was to go out in high wind and be in control.  Early planing…"

dave simon replied to Brent Meinburg's discussion Not So-New-Anymore Guy
"Hi Brent, Brian mentioned mast base pressure (MBP) - it is really important for getting into the footstraps and having real control of the board.   If you are not yet in the harness and footstraps - and it sounds like you aren't - then…"

Free - Mistral Competition SST - Old-School Longboard

Free to a good home as long as I don't get it back again (you know who you are;)) - Mistral Competition SST. Comes with a decent fin, footstraps, and the requisite old twist-lock Mistral base.  Over 12' long and upwards of 250 liters of volume.I would love to see this board in the hands of someone who will use it and appreciate it for what it is - a great longboard for gliding around in light air, and then smile as things heat up and she hops up onto a plane. These boards represent the pure era…See More

dave simon replied to JimmyC's discussion Looking for fins - Deep Tuttle and trim box
"Hi Jimmy, Great session late yesterday. At 151L it sounds like you have the Veloce 310.  Longer board than the 298 - even more important to drive a lot of mast base pressure to keep the nose on the water. Just texted you - should have a good…"

dave simon replied to Don Ferguson's discussion Two more big North days in July??
"And all that with warm water too!  It just kept building yesterday...it might have been fun to wait until 6:30, rig small, and then go but it was also nice to sail big until exhausted followed by a couple of ice cold beers."
