Windsurfing & Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Michigan
Sneaked in a 2-hour sunset session at the Lagoon late Thursday.
At 5:30 on Thursday the rain stopped and the wind picked up. A quick call to the MB Weathertalker to confirmed the wind was there, it reported 12-21 from the NW.
Time to head out to the Lagoon, John and Craig pulled up just as I did. Quick decision on what to rig and we were on the water by 6:30. 5.0 to 5.5 were the sails of choice. Started out underpowered came in and put a weed fin and went back out with gusty conditions.
Soon the wind became more reliable and the 5.0 felt almost fully powered. Captain Craig the speed freak was untouchable and John was pulling off “duckin the jibes” moves like a PWA star in Cold Hawaii.
Sailing ended when it got to dark to see. The wind was holding steady as we derigged and celebrated with Craig’s Labatts beer.
That’s number 31 on the log book for the season for me.
