WTB: Freeride Sail, Mast, and possibly board?

I'm looking to build or buy a setup for light wind planing on Lake Michigan. Currently I'm using older equipment, I have an F2 Xantos 147L with a 7.5 sail. I'd be interested in purchasing a 8.5 or…Continue

I recently had the luck of meeting a paddle boarder looking to get rid of her husband's old windsurfing equipment. She had a 4.4, 5.5, 6.4, and a 7.5 sail, a F2 Xantos 295, another board I cannot…Continue

WTB: Freeride Sail, Mast, and possibly board?

I'm looking to build or buy a setup for light wind planing on Lake Michigan. Currently I'm using older equipment, I have an F2 Xantos 147L with a 7.5 sail. I'd be interested in purchasing a 8.5 or larger sail and possibly a mast to get some more use out of this board on the big lake. However, if the price is right I would also be interested in a wider freeride board or an entire freeride setup. I'm not super picky on condition, age or repairs. Holes don't scare me either. Thanks!-SawyerSee More

"A lone swimmer a mile offshore in big wind/waves!!??  That's very strange.  I have come across boats once in a while and figured they must be talking about seeing a lone windsurfer way off shore.  But a swimmer?!?!  Must be…"

"I've been out a few times with the 7.5 and have not had issues so far, I do notice a few corners and edges I will need to reapply some glue on the patches though. You're right, I don't expect these sails to be the ones I use forever…"

"Sawyer, The luff sleeve takes all the downhaul tension, so it will be interesting to see if that holds.   There have been a lot of newer sails for sale here that might be better alternatives."

Warren Dunes July 18

I made the great decision to bring my board and sails along with me for a work trip to Bridgman MI. Once I was free I headed over to Warren Dunes and found the wind was blowing a steady 20mph with gusts in the high 20's. The beach was beyond crowded so I had to get everything rigged up in the dune grass and carry it down to the water. The wind was blowing from the South-West parallel to the shore. This made for minimal waves and allowed me to get planing very quickly. Once I reached the…See More

"Nice job on the repairs!  But those are some pretty ancient sails.  Price was right, though! Hopefully I will be coming back to Michigan in the fall.  I could pick up 5 or 6 used sails, newer and in much better condition than that for…"

Retro sail repair

I recently had the luck of meeting a paddle boarder looking to get rid of her husband's old windsurfing equipment. She had a 4.4, 5.5, 6.4, and a 7.5 sail, a F2 Xantos 295, another board I cannot identify, a chinook boom, 2 masts, and bags of other equipment. Not a bad find!!I happily took everything off her hands but found all four of the sails had extensive mouse damage to the luff sleeves. Unfortunately, I do not own a sewing machine and professional repair on 4 sails would be quite…See More
