"   I should have used my F2 80 liter wave board.  That board sticks well to the water, even disorganized chop.  However, that board was in Lansing, so I used what I had: my 105 liter freestyle board.  That was OK, but I…"

"Wow!! That sounds very fun. I'd say 'wish I was there' but I'm not sailing anything smaller than 5.9. I have this 4.7 but can't trust it I like this punch out technique. Thanks for sharing. What size board did you use?"

"Nope. Everyone was also telling me that. After going there twice I fell for 99 reasons but not weed. That'd be only too rad. But seriously, I think maybe my 185 techno with a daggerboard is less sensitive to weeds than the shortboards."

September 2019 Planned Trips

This post is about two upcoming windsurfing trips: boating to Pelee Island and camping at Muskegon State Park. I might write a follow up about each if there’s something interesting to say about these trips.  Thanks to those who offered nice comments on my last post about windsurfing + camping in Empire.

Camping + Windsurfing MI

Having some unused vacation days and lingering desire to somehow get sailing again. I decided to go on a quest to camp where the sailing is good, buy a new or used windsurfer, sail it and generally have a sailing vacation that's been missing from my life.

The Shop

Why buy? My windsurfing gear is about 20 years old. I got what I could afford at the time. As such that gear is old, heavy and slow. It served me well for years and years. I think it is well overdo to…

    Chris,

I hope you enjoyed Muskegon this weekend.  When I looked up the Muskegon buoy earlier today, it read 18 knots.  I had hoped to join you, but life got in the way.  For what its worth, I'm hoping to get out to Muskegon next weekend (if life does not intervene).
